Community Support & Collected Advice

I can’t tell you how nice it is to see how many of my former colleagues, clients, and vendors have been supportive throughout this business transition. There is no better way, in my mind, to learn some tricks of the trade than asking directly. Each time I have managed to meet up with a fellow entrepreneur for coffee, lunch, or drinks, I have asked for advice. My goal is to avoid pitfalls and grow this firm, minimizing hiccups wherever possible.

To that end, below are a smattering of suggestions that have been offered up by my friends:

  • Use evernote for everything (saving receipts, adding contact’s business cards, writing punchlists, and generally organizing my life)
  • Trust your gut!
  • Compare yourself to the bigger players, not the smaller ones. Think big/ value yourself.
  • Separate billing for projects in different states to make taxes easier at the end of the year.
  • Do your timesheet every day.
  • Make a goal and move towards it, no matter how big or small.
  • Keep the overhead low. Times always get lean, that’s when your frugality gets you through.
  • I am looking forward to adding to this list and passing it forward in the future.

THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE IN MY CORNER!
